BJP unfurls flag in former separatist stronghold Sopore on Independence Day | KNO

Sopore, Aug 15 (KNO): The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on Tuesday celebrated Independence Day at Sopore, a former separatist stronghold in the Valley. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that amid elaborate security arrangements, scores of BJP workers led by Reyaz Ahmed Dentoo, incharge Sopore unit unfurled the tricolor at the newly constructed clock town at the busiest Iqbal market in the town. Dentoo after unfurling the tricolor told KNO that the credit for the change goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said people are now mature enough and have realized what they lost by being part of anti-government activities. "It's a change and a new beginning for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Dentoo said. He said this is a trailer, and in coming times, Sopore will see massive development under the leadership of PM Modi. In Sopore, the main function of the 77th Independence Day was celebrated at Khushal Sports Stadium in Sopore, which was headed by the Sopore Municipal Council (MC) President Sopore, Musarat Kar. Addressing the gathering after unfurling the national flag and taking salute, she as per the KNO spelled out significant developments and ongoing projects. The parade was commanded by Inspector Ishfaq Ahmad and the march past was presented by the Contingents of District Police Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, CRPF, Home Guard, SPO and Students of different Schools. During the event, colorful cultural programmes were presented and awards were given to the best performers by the chief guest. SSP Sopore, Shabir Nawab, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Shabir Ahamd Rain, SDPO Sopore, Dr. Raies Ahmad Mir, DySP DAR, Hilal Ahmad Hilal, DySP PC Sopore, Syed Gazanfar, SHO Police Station Sopore and SHO Police Station Tarzoo besides other senior officers of civil administration/Police Departments were present on the occasion. Similarly, in Baramulla, Safeena Beigh, the Chairperson District Development Council Baramulla unfurls the tricolor in Baramulla. She called for joint efforts of all stakeholders in the progress of the district by utilizing their potential. DIG North Kashmir, Vivek Gupta, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar, SSP Baramulla, Amod Ashok Nagpure, MCB President, Umar Azhar Kakroo, DDC members, BDC Chairpersons, Officers of Judicial administration, officers of Army and Police, District and sectoral officers, heads of different departments were present at the event besides a huge gathering of people and students also showed their enthusiastic participation. On the occasion, the chief guest, Safeena Baig emphasized the importance of giving youth the right platforms in order to achieve their empowerment in terms of sustainable opportunities. She said that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir believes in peace and tolerance therefore want to adopt all such means that lies within the purview of democratic framework—(KNO)
